Visa is a major sponsor of FIFA. For World Cup 2010 they needed a simple idea that fans around the world could rally and participate in. We created a global social media program on Facebook and YouTube in over 5 languages and 9 countries based on “goooal” shouts. The AKQA team created multiple seeding videos. Celebrities were engaged to create “goooal” shouts to help drive traffic and even more views to the channel. One of the main goals of any marketing for Visa was to drive transactions. During the FIFA World Cup we wanted to create a utility on Facebook that not only helped fans connect with their friends to watch matches, but also created a way for them to discover venues and sports bars. More likely than not Visa would be top of mind when they go to pay.
